Drinks, Coaster, and Home Decor

Your home is made up of a wide variety of constituent parts. You have home décor items scattered throughout the space, functional accessories in their resident locations, and temporary items, consumables such as food, drink, magazines, videos, and other interactive pieces that are meant to be used, and then discarded. And then, you have drink coasters, tiny functional items that seem to straddle the various categories, having function and beauty, temporary and permanent residence, and a wide variety of uses in the home. As such these are multi purpose pieces designed to enhance the quality of your home life.

The nature of coasters is so dichotomous that they are kind of strange pieces. They don’t have to be prominent, but they can be. It’s easy enough to move them from place to place, but also easy to leave them in one space. They are placeholders, with an option towards prominence. They give you endless options and countless possibilities.

Food and drink are intrinsically tied to our lives, and so they are tied to our environments. You have to ingest sustenance in order to survive, and indeed it’s often a pleasure to eat or drink, especially when the fare is good. However their necessary nature has given rise to an accoutrement of assistant home décor pieces. Plates, cups, silverware, and even the vaunted spork are all part and parcel to the nature of the space. The coaster is another item which tends to fall into these categories.

Another part of the coasters nature is its defensible position. In essence, it is designed to protect your home from damage caused by scratches, spills, and other staining factors. It is a force of order in a world of chaos, and yet, if you’re not careful, the great horde of coasters could come a calling, creating a mess of chaos throughout the space. This is where coaster holders can actually come in handy.

Home décor is about finding elements that create a desired effect. However this is more than just existence in a perfect stasis. Your home is a living breathing environment, and decorative accessories, including items like beverage coasters, all have to flow naturally with the nature of the space in order to create a concerted whole.
